The Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) 2023 report found, through their analysis of over 4,400 responses to a call for evidence, that cricket in England and Wales was racist, sexist, classist and elitist.
Part of the problem is a lack of transparency, consistency and accountability in decision making for selection/deselection at all levels of the game. Decision making is a key area where inequity can manifest itself.
Ensuring that decision-making is transparent, consistent, accountable and standardised helps moves towards equity, diversity and inclusion for all in cricket.
